San Francisco

How was my trip in San Francisco? That's what you wonder probably. During my journey, i spend most of my time visiting family. They are surprising and i was very glad to meet them. Maybe one day I would live there, who knows hehe... but anyway, i hadn't had enough time to visit San Francisco, i regret it. I took a few shots, and here there are:

Do you reckognize the famous cable car of SF? One of their stop is next to the Westfield San Francisco Center, which is a mall. There are a lot of stuff there, and it should be a top priority if you are looking for clothes since almost half of the stores are dedicated to clothing.

Then i went to the Pier 39 and took a few pictures. The Gloden Gate Bridge is just behind me in this photo
and you can see Alcatraz in this one. But i could not make my way to this small island since reservation is needed 2 ago as I learned from a guy when i was there. Hello tonton!!

Pier 39 is known for its seals. You can watch them during half a hour while you eat snacks or icecreams. There is a street near the pier 39 which is really animated. When i came there, i watched a group playing reggae music, another group which is wearing a costume and dancing . I also attended to a preparation of funny and weird breads... the bakers prepared them behind the display of the store and i watched him making crocodile, turtle breads. These guys were amazing!
The next and final destination was Japantown!! In fact it looks like Japanese, but there are also a lot of Korean and Chinese people living there. This is the entrance of one of the small malls of Japantown. If you are looking for Japanese restaurants, don't go further, you won't be disappointed. Try one of the fruit shake and special icecream there, it is really worth!!
And thanks to the geishas who accepted posing for photos. Hello auntie!!
I'd like to thank all my family in the area of San Francisco, they were really nice, and i won't forget what they have done for me.

yoo ! seems to be a long time since my last post, i have to make up for lost time. These last two weeks were really painful (for my sleeping hours) and maybe for you too but now this is holidays, that is such a relief !! It is time to return to home country for one of Yu but concerning me and Roo, we will travel to different destinations. Mine is San Francisco !!... in fact it's rather its suburbs but nevermind, it is in San Francisco area !! I will soon add some photos when i will go to downtown, i hear about a Japan town there :S i should take a lot at it xD
One of my first meal when I arrived here in SF is a lasagna, and that was a shock!! I cannot deny the fact that my roomates and me are very good for cooking lasagna!! hehe

Instant Messages and question

Yesterday i take a look in a newspaper and my first reaction was "oh la vache!!!" => OMG!! (sry for the translation if it is not as accurate as i want)
In fact about 1/4 of the US teenager send about 100 IMs per day....
Anyway, what do you think about describing your vacations? Mine looks so dramatic.... Let me show you:
My typical holidays since the start of the semester are just... when I have no homework but just some reports and an exam for the next week xD what a shame.... So i'm just going out to clubs, to friend's or to visit the city during the week end. Yeah it's a bit boring but I hope you will add some comments with yours ;)

International Festival of IIT

Whaouuu, what a day !! So many people were waiting for this event and i can undestand why now :D The day begins with a special lunch cooked by students associations, their objectives were to make sure that everyone taste their local food. So many countries were represented, South Korea, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Africa, but the best was from Turkey, they have a special dessert they give only during a fest which happens just after the end of the Ramadan.
I just regret French were not represented, but nevermind, they were present for the great part of the I-fest, the evening event with the show !!!!

Chinese, Indian people were also represented, and the top 3 of the performances were all Indian performances ... -_-'
Congratulations !
And we can thank the organizers for this event

Inauguration Day

Yesterday, it was the Inauguration of IIT's Eighth President, J. L. Anderson. The ceremony lasts about 1h-1h30, and there were so much people that the organizers split the crowd in two parts, one in the theater where the ceremony takes place, and one in the ballroom where seats had been put there for the occasion. Of course, i was in the ballroom but it makes no odds, i could take picture of the new president ! Everyone on the stage had a costume, like in movies.

Then after the ceremony, the organizers prepared a lunch with a lot of things which may come from restaurants, like roasted porks and goats which were delicious, pizzas, hot dogs, cheesecake etc...

The afternoon begins with what they called the Fall Festivies. In fact it was a crazy pumpkin launching competition between teams of students. They designed their own catapult and the goal is to launch a pumpkin as far as they could. The best team I saw launched its pumpkin and it landed maybe one feet from the limit of the field O_o I saw lots of people, like me, running from the area where the pumpkin could fall hehe what a Crazy Flying Pumpkin!!






This one fell not so far from the public...

Halloween

Do you know what Halloween is? maybe if you are from France you will say "ah oui c'est la fete de citrouilles"("pumpkins feast"). Yes there is truth but, it's not only pumpkin feast, it is also a party where everybody needs to have a costume !!! And unlike in france, in the USA, the halloween party is one of the big feast you may take part in the year!! Yes, it's real!!
Among the costumes you can find for the guys not only some vampires or zombies, but also some psychopathic doctor, or some roman god or emperor. Concerning women, except the witches and others supergirls, you may find lots of fairy and bunny suits !!! I let you imagine how hot and funny it could be during a party!

Gin's birthday !

Whaouuu, what a party !!! Do you know the concept of KTV? no? It is a place where you may eat and drink, but the most important thing is that you can sing and dance (ou pas... comme diraient certains) !!!! 60% of the songs are Asian songs in this KTV, the rests are in English, and lots of style are represented, beginning with the hard rock, to pop music, and with lots of sad and love songs.
I'd like to go to another one next time, really :D

Cheese Cake !

Bon on s'est fait une petite sortie jusqu'a la Hancock (cad plus de 30 min de trajet) pour manger un petit cheese cake :D.Bon on voit rien pour ce cheese cake, eh ben c'est qui qui a mis le flash? xD
Bon c'est un cheese cake a la fraise (pas besoin de preciser peut etre xD)

Et la, un autre cheese cake, et vous savez? Les deux valent le meme prix mais il y en a un qui fait 3 fois la taille de l'aute o_O. Cherchez le truc... :P.

Pour ceux qui se demandaient comment on vivait à l'appart, sachez qu'on a un ange-gardien qui veille sur nous chaque jour, il s'appelle nigdouille et il est baleze!!
Bon là il se fout un peu de moi parce que je le prends en photo, mais il est très sympa d'habitude

About Homecoming Carnival !!!!

Yesterday there was the Homecoming Carnival !! Lots of activities have been offered like X-Treme Air Vertical Wind Tunnel skydiving , Sumo Suits, Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course, Gladiator/Jousting and other things... As you can see, it was enjoyable and cheerful, and i 'm raring to take part in another event like this one.

WELCOM TO CHINATOWN CHICAGO

On a eu l'occaz d'aller encore une fois a Chinatwon, c'est super mimi, il y'a plein de petites statues....et les fameuses signes atrologiques chinois..sur la gauche, nous avons deux rats!!!!

Et a droite des petits dragons, ce sont les gardiens de Chinatwon alors méfiance..Dvd s'est tenu trankil, ça va..

Mais que se passe t'il à l'Ensea? Le nouveau batiment a ouvert? ah oui? Et c'est aussi moche qu'à l'extérieur? xD

Les locaux ont l'air pas mal, ca change des batiments B et C!! Par contre les couloirs me font penser à un hopital....

La soiree chez NOUS

Notre soiree lasagne s'est bien deroulee. Merci pour ceux qui etaient la, vous avez mis une bonne ambiance...dsle pour Patrick qui s'est senti un peu ecarte des ragots..mais on avait peur qui si il les apprend, il les diffuse comme une radio sur le net..Au fait, vous avez sans doute remarque une place vide a cote de Germain, oui..il l'a reserve pour une certaine personne qui n'est finallement pas venue!!! On lui avait dit que tu venais pourtant,c'est bizar qu'elle soit pas venue...ou pas!!!!

ballade au parc

Il se trouvait que parmi nos ballades au parc, un jour 2 filles nous ont accompagné. On a beaucoup marché ce jour là, fait pas mal d'aller-retour en ville, et pas mal de photos dont celle-ci.

Yop voici qqs photos de la soiree au duffys, c'etait sympa, et pour ceux qui pourrait s'inquieter pour mon taux d'alcoolemie lors de cette soiree, faut pas trop vous en faire, la biere etait a 1$ seulement... hum je veux plutot dire que c'etait tranquille

ah oui y avait un concert comme chaque mercredi soir je suppose dans ce bar, et la cave a cote, c'est vraiment depasse...

Pb Internet & news

Dsl de pas avoir donne de nouvelles depuis un certain temps, mais on est en train de retablir la ligne internet chez nous, et apparement ca risque de prendre un certain temps, peut etre 2 semaines, c'est un peu la galere, mais on s'en sort. Le telephone a aussi ete coupe mais sera retabli bientot. Ce qui m'amene a une pauvre question... comment faisaient les gens autrefois pour ne pas galerer sans internet, ni le telephone...???

Sinon pour les ragots qui me viennent a l'esprit, pour ceux qui sont de l'ensea, et sans citer de nom, G. a failli chope a la soiree internationale mais... il y a tjs un mais...

et Mr M. et Mrs M. semblent sortir ens, vrai ou faux? Il etait pas deja marie ? xD

Sinon concernant les cours, j'arrete pas de me dire que les profs essaient de nous rappeler les bases plutot que de me dire qu'ils nous prennent pour des BAC+1, ca va ptet changer d'ici la semaine prochaine qui c'est, mais en tout cas, c'est facile pour l'instant et puis, ca permet d'avoir le voca technique en anglais.

Niveau sortie, on vit a l'espagnol ou a la grecque, on prefere sortir le soir plutot que le jour !! il fait trop chaud dehors, avec plus de 90F, je connais pas encore la correspondance en Celsius, mais ca doit tourner au dessus de 30C a coup sur.
Sinon ce soir, c'est direction c'est le Duffys, un ptit bar sympa, ou bien un coin pour connaitre de nouveaux etrangers de l'universite comme qui dirait ;)

au Millenium Park

Voici la vue qu'on peut avoir du Millenium Park, le coin végétal de la ville, c'est un coin génial si on a envi de profiter de se mettre en mode touriste et de flashouiller tous les batiments aux alentours.
On peut aussi profiter de concert en plein air dans ce parc, et comme vous pouvez le constater en dessous, c'est tout simplement énorme. Imaginez un petit concert de rock en plein air avec votre groupe préféré, et laissez vous emporter par la magie de cet antre !!

Pour vous dire à quoi ressemblait vraiment cette soirée, mettez une masse de français, d'espagnols, une pincée de chinois, d'indiens, de pakistanais, de japonais, d'italiens, d'allemands, de turcs, d'américains et de colombiens, et vous obtenez un méga mix pour une soirée qui s'est très bien finie (sans que quelqu'un crade les chiottes pour une fois, enfin jusqu'à que je sois parti ;) ) .
Big kiss&good bye aux organisateurs qui vont repartir en France, et en espérant que les ptits jeunes qui reprennent le flambeau feront aussi bien voire mieux !!

bon ca doit etre la 3e fois dans ma vie ou la 4e , j'ai arrêté de compter...., qu'on me dit que je ressemble à this famous Chinese guy, do you recognize him? ;)

Bon j'aurai dû écrire plus tôt normalement, mais il se trouve que j'ai dû emménager de façon difficile, et qu'il a fallu les premiers jours de mon arrivée que je m'occupe de pleins de choses du style gérer la banque (chose dont j'ai pas encore terminé), et que je finisse mon inscription à l'université, ce qui était pas simple non plus vu que côté administratif, les francais n'ont pas gd chose à envier aux ricains !!

Sinon si jamais vous faites comme l'un d'entre nous, et que vous souhaitez passer quelques jours a Chicago, n'oubliez pas que le décalage horaire fait vraiment mal aux pattes, avec 7h d'heures de décalage actuellement. J'ai vu tout un tas de gens partir faire la fête sans moi pendant environ une semaine parce que j'étais mort à 19h, c'était vraiment pas cool... Mais bon je vais me rattraper demain avec la première soirée internationale depuis mon arrivée !!!

Premier message !!!

Hello tlm!!

Ici c'est la folie, il fait chaud comme dans un four dehors, tout le monde est en (mini-)short. Je vais bientot faire ma rentrée à mon université, et j'ai déjà rencontré pas mal d'étrangers jusque là, depuis une semaine. Y a pas mal d'étrangers à l'univ, y a plus de 200 chinois , il y a aussi une grosse communauté indienne... et nous la petite communauté française au campus.

On est 3 dans la team à rédiger ce blog, donc 3 opinions différentes sur notre vie à Chicago, et donc 3x plus de fun !!
